The Desert Tiger Taekwondo (DTT) Martial Arts Club was founded in 1999 at Al-Shuwayer Company, Abqaiq and Dammam Chapter by Sabum Nim Greg Sugano - 4th Dan Black Belt. Pioneer members reached a maximum number of 77 Jins. The club was properly organized with a set of officers and members of different nationalities. The first elected president of the club was Engr. Ernesto Bartolay who is the Senior Project Manager for Abqaiq on Shedgum Gas Plant projects of Al-Shuwayer Company.
DTT Martial Arts Club is an active member of World Organizers of Martial Arts (WOMA) USA under the leadership of its founder Prof. M.I. Tianero, PHD MA. DTT is also a 12th Clan of Yudasha Society and actively participating WOMA Open Tournaments. The club has the biggest number of students/members out of 52 martial arts club in Eastern Province under the umbrella of WOMA. The founder was proud that the club was one of the three chosen club visited by the World Grandmaster Jack Estern from USA and World Grand Master M.I. Tianero in the year 2000.
After 1 year and 8 months of trainings, DTT club stopped due to completion of Al-Shuwayer projects and most members and the founder were leaving the Kingdom.
In the year 2004, the club was reorganized at the founder's new company, JAL International, Al-Khobar. The new club was patterned and inspired by the previous club in Al-Shuwayer Abqaiq and Dammam Chapters. With constant prodding and support of the founder's close friends within JAL, he was able to muster enough courage, resources and network to establish the club sometime in February 2004. DTT is affiliate member of WOMA-USA (World Organizer of Martial Arts) UTP (Universal Taekwondo of the Phils.) EPTU (Eastern Province Taekwondo Union) KYHA (Korean Yodu & Hapkido Association) BOMAC (Board of Martial Arts Council) AFCSCOM (All Filipino Community & Sport Commission) and other martial arts organization.
