DTT LATEST VICTORY

By Alex V. Villamayor

Six medals were collected by Desert Tiger Taekwondo (DTT) in 2009 OSKA-Falcon Duo Karate-Do Tournament in Dammam last February 27, 2009. The DTT Jins have only three event participations where each match was secured by places.
DTT dominated the Kata-Brown Belt Division where Jojo Mamitag won the championship. First time to participate in a Duo-Sparring competition, the dynamic pair of Roji Jimenez and Ely Sajo marked a powerful performance despite the mismatch favoring their opponents during the elimination round. The complete list of DTT medals are:

Gold : Jonathan P. Mamitag Kata-Brown Belt Division
Silver : Menandro G. Jimenez Kata-Brown Belt Division
Bronze: Crizaldy C. Banquil Kata-Brown Belt Division
Bronze: Arnel P. Sendon Kata-Black Belt Division
Silver : Menandro G. Jimenez Duo-Sparring, Black Belt Division
Eliseo V. Sajo Duo-Sparring, Black Belt Division

The tournament was organized by Okinawa Shorin-ryu Karate Do Association (OSKA) under its President Kyoshi Dominador Caballero Jr., in coordination with World Organizer of Martial Arts (WOMA) founded by Dr. M. I. Tianero and with the effort of Shihan Rey Diaz, (WOMA President). The Board of Martial Arts Council (BOMAC) assisted the tournament as the arbiter, judges and referees under the leadership of Sihan Jesse Cacapit (Acting BOMAC President).
DTT Head Master Sabum nim Greg C. Sugano was grateful for the performance of his team. “My sincere thanks and “CONGRATULATIONS” to all of you who did the best performance and won the Medals in the Tournament” said Sabum Greg in a short message he conveyed to DTT members after the tournament.
